As summer approaches, Pride events that celebrate LGBTQ identities are filling the Netherlands. We have some events for your weekend that highlight queer identities, from a Pride parade in Utrecht to a trans film festival in Amsterdam.

Trans Youth, a documentary that follows the life of three trans young adults living in Austin, Texas, will show at Filmtheater Kriterion. The film acts as a part of a special youth program organised by TranScreen Film Festival and Filmtheater Kriterion. Film begins at 20:00. At Filmtheater Kriterion, Roetersstraat 170, Amsterdam.
Saturday, June 1
Celebrate LGBTQ identity at Utrecht Pride. This year, Utrecht will host its annual Pride event, highlighting queer identities. The parade will be held at the historic Oudegracht canal and comprises of at least 47 boats. Parade begins at 14:00. At Utrecht Canal Pride, Oudegracht 47, Utrecht.

For her 30th birthday, Dutch artist Froukje Zandvliet is hosting an exhibit in collaboration with 13 artists about time. The exhibition is titled “Forever is composed of nows” and is inspired by a poem from American poet Emily Dickinson. Exhibition starts at 12:00. At Pulchri Studio, Lange Voorhout 15, The Hague.

Filmtheater Kriterion will host a screening party of OUTtv’s new sitcom “The Switch.” The comedy series is the first to have all trans roles played by trans actors. After the screening, the cinema will provide drinks and a hold a discussion. Show starts at 15:00. At Filmtheater Kriterion, Roetersstraat 170, Amsterdam. Free.
