If you manage to escape your grandmother’s nagging insistence to visit church (not the gay fetish club in Amsterdam, the other church) this Easter weekend, you may find pleasure in the events we have lined up for you. We start in Amsterdam with a comedy night that uses artificial intelligence and end with a dance party in Groningen for Easter Sunday. Bring your grandmother if you want.
Friday, 19 April
Boom Chicago’s new show The Future Is Here and It Is Slightly Annoying uses a robot to tell jokes. Performers at the venue use an artificial intelligence comedy android that learns as it performs. The machine uses similar technology that Siri employs and a deep neural network. With a cast of actual humans, the robot will improvise on stage to joke about society’s current affinity with technology. Will this robot be able to tell jokes? Let’s find out! Robot jokes at 20:30. At Boom Chicago, Rozengracht 117, Amsterdam. Tickets for €26.50.
