It looks like North Korea may have lost some vodka, according to Reuters. Apparently, Dutch authorities confiscated a container of about 90,000 bottles of Russian vodka that they believed was destined for North Korea, the authorities said on Tuesday. The authorities seized the shipment from a Chinese ship in Rotterdam. The ship was traveling from Hamburg to China, with a stop in the Netherlands, officials said. They suspected the shipment would travel to North Korea, which would be a breach against international sanctions.
“The United Nations’ Security Council has issued clear sanctions against North Korea and it’s important that these are implemented,” Sigrid Kaag, international trade minister, said to Dutch media. “The sanctions include the import of luxury goods, so it’s entirely justified that this container was taken off the ship.”
It was not clear whether officials had reported the shipment to the U.N.
