Queen Maxima criticized after meeting with Saudi prince

According to rtl news, Queen Maxima was criticized by a United Nations official on Saturday when she joined Dutch lawmakers in a meeting she held with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on a G-20 summit in Osaka this week.

Agnes Callamard, U.N. member specialized in extrajudicial executions reported at newspaper Algemeen Dagblad that it was very disappointing that the Dutch queen had not apparently discussed the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi with the Saudi prince.

Agnes also wrote a U.N. report that found high-level Saudi officials including Crown Prince Salman to be investigated for the killing of Khashoggi in a Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

The Dutch Royal House did not comment, but native media mentioned a statement from the royals to confirm that the meeting had taken place. It also said that it was mandatory for the queen to meet the crown prince because Saudi Arabia will receive the next G-20.

Maxima, who married the Dutch crown prince in 2002, had done the G-20 in Japan about women’s empowerment. The Saudi Center for International Communication uploaded a photo of the meeting on Twitter, stating that there were discussed many topics ahead of their conversation.

Sjoerd Sjoerdsma of the centrist D-66 Party, a member of the governing coalition, said in a statement on Twitter that he disagrees with the conversation between Maxima and the Saudi crown prince
