RTL Nieuws reports that a Martinair Cargo plane was found to have over 80 kilograms of cocaine on board.
The plane was located at the Ezeiza International Airport near Buenos Aires, Argentina at the time of the bust, resulting in 7 arrests with 1 still on the run. Of those arrested, 3 were Dutch. The plane was bound for Amsterdam via Ecuador and Miami and originated in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The drugs were found shortly before the plane was scheduled to take off and it is not known at this time where they came from, but it was hidden the plane’s hold.
Martinair’s parent company, Air France-KLM, has agreed to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
