Many of us can’t even begin to imagine drawing a masterpiece with our dominant hand. But Dutch artist Rajacenna van Dam has mastered drawing with both her left and right hands, simultaneously.
Reuters interviewed the artist who explained why she decided to learn how to draw using both hands. “I can go faster and it’s also less boring,” she said to Reuters. Her ambidexterity has been a success on Youtube, where she has amassed thousands of views on her time-lapse videos. In one video, she records herself drawing Taylor Swift with one hand and Selena Gomez with the other hand at the same time.
The 25-year-old told Reuters her photo-like portraits take roughly 40 hours to complete. She began seriously drawing with gel pens and coloured pencils when she was 16. But she only began drawing with her right hand about six months ago.
Although drawing has turned into her profession, she does not rule out learning other skills. “Recently, I’m learning piano,” she said to Reuters. “But I’m not Mozart.”
