Austrian online shopper orders dresses from Netherlands, receives 25,000 ecstasy pills instead

An Austrian woman ordered 2 dresses online from the Netherlands but instead received 24,800 ecstasy tablets worth around ‎€500,000. Investigators reported that the pills were actually intended for a recipient in Scotland who has now been identified and detained by Scottish police.

According to Austrian police, when the Linz woman in her late 50s opened the package, she mistook the pills for decorative stones. The woman’s husband knew immediately the tablets were drugs and the “astonished” couple returned the box to the post office, at which point the local police were notified.

Austrian police informed Dutch authorities about the incident and reported that they “understandably…showed great interest in researching the sender of the package.”
