An Amsterdam taxi driver has just been sentenced to three years in prison for selling weapons and drugs via the dark web.
The 31-year-old man received the sentence, a year of which is conditionally suspended, took part in the sale of 9 firearms, over 100 ecstasy pills, 1 ounce of cannabis, and close to 20 grams of cocaine via market place Alphabay, under the pseudonym Amsterdoomed. Though Alphabay was taken offline by the FBI in 2017, the man behind Amsterdoomed (also aliases, Merchantsofdeath and Hells_Angels) was caught while operating on a different dark web marketplace in late 2018. In a subsequent search of his home, police found more ecstasy, cannabis, and cocaine.
Sentenced by the court of Rotterdam to a more lenient sentence than prosecutor’s demand, the taxi driver was on track to become a social studies teacher
