The special units of Amsterdam police have been carrying, since this morning, the eviction of the squat ADM, in Amsterdam Noord. Some residents have decided not to leave the site and chained themself in protest.
While the police kept journalists away, the first building were evicted and handed over to the owner who immediately proceeded to the demolition.
The company that bought the land wants to build a ship maintenance and repair yard. According to a spokesperson, contractors are ready to start. But the expectation is that it will take up to two months to clear the entire site.
Residents are trying a new step in court: a hearing is scheduled tomorrow morning at 11 am, in an attempt to reverse the eviction following the request of the UN Human Rights Commission.
